(Rev.) Helen Waddell |

Rev. Helen Waddell was raised in Victoria, B.C., where she and her family attended the United Church of Canada. While teaching in public school in Victoria, she met and married her life partner, Harvey. Together, they lived, worked and worshipped in a variety of locations in Canada and abroad. Helen and Harvey returned to Halifax in 1989, after Harvey’s retirement from the Canadian Navy. Over the next few years, they each responded to an ever deepening call to ministry in the United Church of Canada. Helen returned to school, graduating from Mount Saint Vincent with a Bachelor of Arts, and from Atlantic School of Theology with a Master of Theological Studies, and a Master of Divinity. She was ordained in 1997, and served in pastoral ministry until retirement in 2009. Soon after, they found a spiritual home in Bedford United Church, and became members in 2011.
Helen believes that pastoral care is one of the essential ways we experience and share love of God. It is at the heart of our relationship with God and one another, as a community and as individuals. She celebrates the opportunity to be a part of the Pastoral Care Team over the next few months.
